Things I’ve done lately:

1) Taken some pictures and forgotten to blog them. [I did a 12 of 12, even.]

St. Boniface

Minneapolis/St. Paul

2) Got another job that I still can’t start because for-good-reasons-red-tape.

3) Waited.

4) Read books. I’m trying to read 75 books this year (Overdrive + library access = awesome). Currently reading The Psychopath Whisperer by Kent A. Kiehl. (And The Art of Non Conformity and I’m Only Being Honest still. And a bunch of other things. I thought I liked paper books better than eBooks but I seem to get through eBooks more quickly, whereas Jeremy Kyle above just gets to keep hanging out.

5) Went to Minneapolis.

IMG_9213.JPG

Saw my cousin Dean.

IMG_9182.JPG

Saw his team’s concrete canoe. Ate cookies and pretzels in outlet malls.

IMG_9184.JPG

Spent a couple nights on an air mattress in a hotel room, ‘cause that’s how we roll.

IMG_9199.JPG

Finally went to the cupcake place on University (I think it’s just called Cupcake.)

IMG_9236.JPG

IMG_9239.JPG

IMG_9246.JPG

Ate this cupcake at 9 AM:

IMG_9250.JPG

Slept in the car. Ate an unacceptable amount of junk food.

And shared this crazy massive bowl of mac & cheese with my friend Scott when we went for dinner with Heather. (Scott called it a trough. Also it dominated us.)

IMG_9231.JPG

6) Watched The Jeremy Kyle Show. Damn ridiculous British TV that is actually amusing. More amusing than Maury for sure.

7) Hope I have done more than this. :]

I used to do this thing called 12 of 12, where a bunch of people took 12 pictures throughout the day. Well, when Chad (the guy who thought it up) stopped hosting the link roundup, it kind of—to my knowledge, at least—disappeared. The last 12 of 12 I did was August 2013.

A year and a half later… here goes! (It helps that I actually had an interesting day today. Such is the spend-most-of-my-time-at-home life…)

12:03 am | kitchen.
We had our kitchen redone earlier this week. This has resulted in my inability to reach many cupboards.

IMG_7990.JPG

2:47 pm | kitchen.
Yesterday I realized that my networking cards have my old Twitter handle on them. I went to a tweetup this evening, and tried to get the same-day type from Stapes, except I can’t find my Visa card so I missed the noon order deadline because the Visa Vanilla website wasn’t allowing me to set up my gift card, and RBC told me my Visa Debit card was too old to activate. So I did not get new networking cards in time.
[With that said, also, no cards were exchanged: it was all about the tweetup.]

IMG_8007.JPG

5:02 pm | bus.
Moovit is the greatest app to ever happen to transit.

IMG_8008.JPG

5:35 pm | CBC Manitoba.
Marcy kicks off the #CBCTweetUpMB event.

IMG_8009.JPG

5:44 pm | CBC Manitoba.
I met up with Alyson before heading to CBC.
She did a pre-weather selfie with John Sauder from CBC, on the air.

IMG_8010.JPG

5:56 pm | CBC Manitoba.
Cakeology + CBC Tweetup cupcakes and cake balls?
Yes, please.

IMG_8017.JPG

6:33 pm | CBC Manitoba.
Touring CBC Manitoba. This is what the union of radio and TV looks like.

IMG_8033.JPG

6:44 pm | CBC Manitoba.
And now for Kyra with the weather.

IMG_8038.JPG

6:47 pm | CBC Manitoba.
Oh, no big deal, I’m just in the weather, guys.

IMG_8057.JPG

6:56 pm | CBC Manitoba.
This is so all the animators and graphic designers and people can stay/get creative.
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR TO THE RESCUE!

IMG_8058.JPG

6:57 pm | CBC Manitoba.
Somewhat amusingly, the last picture I took inside CBC today was the welcome sign.

IMG_8062.JPG

 7:59 pm | Sobeys.
And… the last picture for the day…
MOON CHEESE? Like… dehydrated cheese.
Thanks but no thanks, (not-)NASA.

I’ll be sharing more pictures from the CBC Tweetup soon […or so I say, this is what happens, okay?], but visit the #CBCTweetUpMB Storify, or check the hashtag on Twitter and Instagram for more!

(I’m not smart enough to figure out how to link to a hashtag on Instagram… I hope this is actually difficult…)

And… hopefully I’ll get another 12 on 03/12/15!

the hardest thing is a rendering, a moment moving too fast too endure
would you abide and smile wide, because i want to remember this for sure.
[…] our pictures say with sight what we can’t say with words,
[…] a picture will survive, so smile and look alive,
a camera lens is opening, a wider angle’s yours.

look alive, incubus.

cauliflower crust pizza. yes.
despite that my kitchen is a demolition zone.

I wrote half a post yesterday Saturday and Sunday. This is the reason that in order to blog you can’t just “be a blogger” and you have to do things. And now it’s Monday Tuesday and Monday’s post isn’t up. (I am not even “trying too hard” here, I am just not trying.)

I mean, on Saturday I did have the joy of going to The Keg steakhouse as a vegetarian, but the fact that the desserts are delicious (and I did not even take a picture of them. I say them but they were shared.) does not rectify the fact that there is not even so much as pasta and marinara on the menu.

Anyways, pictures (or lack-there-of of dessert pictures) from the week.

Week 2.

Canadian things. With my cousin Dean.

Week 2

Walking in -23 for poutine…

Week 2

Yes. There is ice. In my hair. From returning from walking for poutine.

(Other Canadian things include the fact that I live in walking distance from poutine. Which is actually a problem but less of a problem than I thought.)

Week 2

I got home to mail from my friend Dia! EXCITING.

Week 2

My friend Simi got me into this British talk-show host named Jeremy Kyle.
(He’s like Maury but there’s less Not-Father dancing and more “Is my mum” [with a u] “trying to murder me?” and “Which of my children stole my iPhone”.
There are a lot of lie detectors and DNA tests, though.

He has a book. So I bought it because I have this shiny-ness.

Week 2

Also purchased with said Indigo card:

Week 2

These were in my package from Dia…

Week 2

…They are ridiculously delicious.

Week 2

This is as much a lie as the Canada Warm truck I see on occasion. IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER.

It’s pink though. I saw the top (sans words) from my kitchen and I had to investigate (without going outside. Obviously. Because Warm Home.)

Week 2

My friend Riki was cleaning out her room. And texting me pictures of things she thought I might like.

This hat? Obviouslyyyy.

Week 2

…MONEY!

(The Canadian government sends GST rebates if you, like me, make less than a certain amount of money. They also keep telling me I need to enrol in direct deposit, which I do, but also that will totally ruin the joy of GST cheques.)

Week 2

Dia is working very hard to get me to embrace the moleskine planner (red). I do enjoy the moleskine notebooks, but as I wrote at the beginning of the month, sometimes I feel like notebooks are too nice and I need to be super intentional with them. (Which is ridiculous really. It’s paper.)

Anyways, I’m really trying here. Except 90% of the time I put stuff in Google Calendar and then into the Moleskine. Is that proper?

Week 2

I was playing with the slow shutter app. Apparently I need work at this because… what?

Week 2

Also regarding Dia, because she loves smores.

Also I did not get the smores ones, but I did get mini-donuts as a reward for going to the Kitchen, Bath and Reno(vation, not Nevada) Show with my mom on Saturday.

Week 2

Sleepy Pikachu Pebble face.

(He doesn’t always sleep. Just at nighttime.)

Week 2

Oh, that’s pretty.

Week 2

My Slicecream looks like a bear.

You can see it, right? Sam suggested Bear in the Big Blue House.

Week 2

I briefly tried to 12 of 12 today. And failed.
I did read part of two books and the entirety of Junie B. First Grader: Dumb Bunny.
(Because it’s meant for third graders, but holy those books are occasionally hilarious.)

Thanks, public library eBooks!

Week 2
Jeans also formerly Riki’s. They are green even though they don’t look like it.
Today [Monday. Whatever day I am in.] is also the first day/time I have worn skinny jeans ever.

History, yeah?

Speaking of history.

Week 2

My friend Bob is reading Canadian History for Dummies. And considering I want to read 30 books this year (I am not counting Junie B. up there, I swear. Problematically I can’t log it on GoodReads because I can’t un-count it without lying and I refuse to lie on the internet.) and Bob is American and I am Canadian, it seemed like a good idea for me to maybe read about Canadian History along with him.

You should join us. We can have Canadian History for Dummies book club. 😉

Among one of my last pictures of 2014…

IMG_6635.JPG

Misty, my friends’ dog, seems to think I am part of the family and thus, furniture.

IMG_6694.JPG

Welcome to 2015. Let’s go outside in -15 without jackets, guys.

IMG_6667.JPGIMG_6668.JPGIMG_6678.JPGIMG_6684.JPG

“Well, if I’m gonna jump, then I’ll jump, and I won’t look down…”
—sticking with you, addison road.

…and the Instagram version:

Sam scored some hockey tickets–and I got to be his guest! Also his version of the selfie is better than mine.

(That’s an excellent way to get into day 3 of 2015, eh?)

I may not be into resolutions, but I figure a reading challenge is a fun idea.

(Like blogging more often and forgetting to hit publish).

Poutine with my cousin Dean as he is back from Minnesota for a bit.

And, a fun package from my friend Dia as a surprise in the mail:
