The last time I did a 12 of 12 was in 2016. I may have been one of the last hangers-on of this thing I learned of through my friend Mike. 12 of 12 was a thing where we took, for months on end, 12 pictures on the 12th day of the month and blogged them. (This is my 26th 12 of 12 on this site, and I did others on old sites. I kind of can’t believe it.)

So at 12:23 AM I texted Mike my first picture and said “12 of 12 lockdown edition, you in??”

I got a text back at 12:24 am: “Let’s do it.”

12:23 AM

Good night. Had to show off my awesome dinosaur bedding, purple blanket from Steve, handmade octopus from Keri-Lynn (who swears she will never make another so I feel special), and guitar my cousin Dean made me long ago. Oh and the decorative painters tape that’s been on my walls for years.

9:38 AM

Morale boost flying across the country. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds took to the Manitoba skies this morning. Great view from our deck on Manitoba’s 150th birthday.

10:47 AM

Little Animal Crossing before I get to work. Got bored of the Trudeau press conference today which means the options are either work or video games.

12:30 PM

Editing my fourth-ever podcast for work. Still needing to google things to remember how GarageBand works.
Also I need to clean my MacBook screen.

1:08 PM

I was going to listen to a live recording of the Rational Security podcast because I’m a giant nerd, except it’s not til tomorrow and I have another Zoom scheduled then. Whoops.

2:01 PM

The video version of the podcast above. Little did I know at the time I’d have to do the tags all over again on both YouTube and Facebook because I didn’t update the title in the video intro and had to fix it, export it, and re-upload it.

6:27 PM
Happy birthday, Manitoba. My province is 150 today.

7:39 PM

We got a grocery pickup slot today. Giant strawberries that are delicious!
(If you care about our level of pandemic, yes, we are disinfecting most packaging, such as the strawberry clamshell I placed my strawberry atop.)

8:24 PM

Giant strawberries. Tiny watermelon.

10:29 PM

Actual footage of my expression when I realized I bought this tropical shirt on the island twice.

11:59 PM

I love having cute CNIB Guide Dogs on my kitchen calendar! Hiya, Potter!

Thanks for joining in on a slice of my lockdown life. Check out what Mike was up to (his is a lot more interesting, and pretty, than mine!).
Anybody up for a 12 of 12 resurrection? If so, I hope June is a bit more interesting! 😉

Today is Wordless Wednesday except with words. So it’s just Wednesday, really.

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5549/30276332116_b311807f39.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:## am | kitchen. Bedtime snack pumpkin pie, BOOM.

https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8138/29680828963_f086e713ec.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:## am | kitchen. WTF, Winnipeg. It’s October 12th. Snow is not okay.

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5760/30195822822_a2382b1244.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

11:22 am | kitchen. I swear I do leave my kitchen. It’s #LDchat time, like it is every (or most, for me) Wednesdays!

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7770/29681151984_5ba899454c.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

##:## pm | bus stop. I wrote half a blog post while I sat here because I got to the bus stop 11 minutes early. Also the snow went away and there is still a flower at the bus stop.

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5551/29680830043_33f161d49f.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

##:## pm | mall. I found all the sweary colouring books and sent this picture to Tara. Then she bought a sweary colouring book (which kind of surprised me, actually!)

https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8273/30195816342_8896c7c645.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

##:## pm | my office. It’s still weird typing my office. Anyways, I’m super into both Command hooks and what the Internet calls office hacks now. So I put three more command hooks onto the wall—two are pictured here so my writing junk and dry erase junk doesn’t actually take up room on my desk.

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5744/29680823703_dd8609cd1d.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

##:## pm | car. Driving to IKEA. The camera never captures the pretty sky…

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5708/29681151184_351901613c.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

##:## pm | IKEA. Uh oh, the LAPTOP (which has a LAPTOP label on the other side) is BROKEN.

https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8274/29681153064_d9a7facc69.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

##:## pm | closet. Trying to get paper plates for a craft for work… WHY the eff is there so much carbonated beverage in my house?

https://i0.wp.com/farm6.staticflickr.com/5778/30195821362_202ea796bb.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

##:## pm | my office. Refreshing my memory (aka re-learning all over again) about energy systems, adenosine triphosphate and lactic acid for a blog post.

https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8601/30014608720_4818ebe19c.jpg?resize=281%2C500&ssl=1

11:16 pm | my office. I plank in my office because I have foamy tiles there and it’s nice. The app said it was a day off today, so I just held the plank as long as i could moderately comfortably. To think I started at 55 seconds 13 days ago. (Don’t tell me about why rest days are important or whatever, kay? I have a kinesiology degree but it’s called a plank challenge for a reason.)

https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8408/30195813052_a531b92ff2.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

11:28 pm | kitchen. Actually heading to bed before midnight because I’m going to a thing about budgeting in the morning (who am I?). My dad always leaves coffee cups and stuff here under the microwave. To like, reuse in the morning (or, if my mom is away, all weekend). It’s not like we don’t have a dishwasher he could put it in.

PS. I did the 3 minute Mindful vs. Mindless bitesize meditation after this. Yay.

On the 12th of the month, I take 12 pictures throughout the day and blog them. This month, I started off a trip in Toronto, and then flew from YYZ to MSP to spend nearly a week in Minneapolis.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7109/27052490776_14de15978e.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

11:36 am | noodles & company. I had some ambitious food goals on this trip (there’s lots of stuff on the University of Minnesota campus, where I was spending my time). Lunch #1, Noodles & Co.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7380/26481896303_6409d70dd7.jpg?resize=500%2C333&ssl=1

1:12 pm | East Bank train platform. I wandered around for quite awhile after lunch, hitting up the UMN Bookstore, CVS (my favourite), Walgreens (to use the Coke Freestyle machine, because how could I not?) and stop in a few other places. Here’s the East Bank train platform, on my way back from the bookstore.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7279/27017364401_f0e7b8ae78.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

1:29 pm | University of Minnesota. Not only do the crosswalks talk, they have very detailed signage of how to cross safely.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/27017375511_e645e7d4f4.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

1:30 pm | Washington Street (?). We’re not really super school spirited in Canada, so I’m not sure if I love or hate all the spirit around university (COLLEGE) campuses in the US. Either way, here’s a logo’ed bike rack of an M, and in the distance you will see a Golden Gopher bike rack.
Really.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7408/26991039132_bf6f668a06.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

1:35 pm | Mesa Pizza. Well, two hours since Noodles means it’s time for second lunch… Today, penne marinara pizza. I also had mac & cheese pizza here on this trip… Twice.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/27052497156_1f43f10e66.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

2:10 pm | University Avenue. On the sidewalk near the Days Hotel, there’s this poor mom graffiti… It’s amusing and confusing, and the cursive is quite good given the medium (at least it’s better than mine on any medium…)

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7652/26991047572_1804877f11.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

2:23 pm | Days Hotel. I’d been living at my cousin Dean’s apartment for the past couple days. My aunt and grandma arrived on the 12th, and my aunt added me to the hotel reservation—and they let me check in early (two for two on this trip!).

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7464/26481904653_b8cd47dc52.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

3:35 pm – Days Hotel. I took about 5 trips between the hotel and Dean’s apartment (basically parallel but a few blocks away) with my 10+ days worth of crap (and things I’d purchased). I then re-set-up my bed, aka air mattress, in this corner… It’s quite the bedroom, even if I did have to move the fridge and clear an armchair to the other side of the room.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7067/27052499016_40006ce4d9.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

8:14 pm | Jax Cafe. We went out for dinner with Dean’s girlfriend, Jackie, and her family for dinner to celebrate Dean and Jackie becoming real engineers with pinkie rings the next day.

Yeah, pinkie rings. Read about that here if you’re confused.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7134/27052499216_54d9a855f9.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

8:58 pm | Jax Cafe. “You call that a knife? This is a knife.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7722/26991052952_72a88fafb4.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:13 pm | cvs. There you go again CVS, takin’ all my money. I dropped another $31 USD (so like, $50 CAD) in CVS with my grandma after returning from dinner. Here are some NOT BIRTHDAY cards.

https://i0.wp.com/farm8.staticflickr.com/7343/26481907843_4897135f79.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

10:44 pm | hotel. Emptying out my pockets at the end of the day. I friggen hate pennies, and America needs to follow our lead and get rid of them. I don’t know how I still have a TTC transfer at this point, and I heart cvs (and love the extra care keytag that is not on any keys.)

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1700/26350455201_2910852368.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

1:12 am | kitchen. Felt like making something around 11:45. Still making something.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1502/25811790574_48f890a7fd.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

1:19 am | kitchen. And this is where I stop for the night. Pleasantly surprised with how the hair is coming. (I’m responding to the “draw a song” art journal prompt I saw online, using Feels Like Forever by Lacey Sturm.)

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1602/25811787304_fac24a4b91.jpg?resize=281%2C500&ssl=1

2:00 am | bedroom. Tweet – “1:58 am seems like a good time to buy the @Smiling_Mind book right? Yup. Now to use the app and go to sleep.”
I did not end up using the app before I went to sleep, but I did almost also buy the November Project book… I restrained myself.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1445/26324493342_4735e0831f.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

10:17 am | Perkins. Sam and I went to Perkins to plan practice, because my Starbucks card reload failed during the upgrade to #Crybucks Rewards. Starbucks is refunding it, but why would I go to Starbucks with it not resolved? So, Perkins. And these delightful crepe things filled with strawberries and cream cheese.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1612/26143790340_71e5641e6a.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:23 pm | Kitchen. I should really just start saying office instead of kitchen. I started the process of checking off many things from my to-do list with “file taxes”. As you may recall, they’ve been done since March 12… Submitted.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1679/26350455511_fc2867bc72.jpg?resize=500%2C288&ssl=1

3:39 pm | Kitchen. After filing my taxes and scheduling my tooth extraction (being a grown up is AWESOME. Like I wrote the other day, I’ve got a cavity in a wisdom tooth so it gets to get pulled out. Which is better than getting it filled, really.) I got a 20 minute dance workout on. Except I did it wrong and ended with a peak heart rate… Poor music choices (actually due to the song linked above)…
Anyways, yeah, I then did another grown up activity and did some work, which involved writing a blog post about why warming up and cooling down is important, and how despite having a degree in kinesiology I’m not smart sometimes.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1470/25813850503_bfb0a6de4e.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

6:54 pm | Special O. Sometimes, we play games like Capture the Chicken that the parents are more intense about it than the kids (it does get the athletes stoked though..!). Yes, this guy is also my sport medicine doctor. 😉

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1542/25813852283_8ee018fc76.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:31 pm | kitchen. 4 things checked off the month’s to-do list today.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1660/26324298112_696dea8bbd.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:49 pm | kitchen. This is my buddy Guide Dog Murray, aka Steve’s guide dog. You should vote for him in the Guide Dogs for the Blind photo contest. He’s raised $25 so far, because he’s cute (and because humans are nice).

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1462/25813855973_764b30e162.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

11:00 pm | kitchen. I had a bath, and then put on clean socks… except I have no idea why there is red on this clean sock or what it is… Obviously I was like whatever and did not like, put other socks on or anything. Maybe it’s from that string anklet I’ve got on, but I’ve had that on for, like, months.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1457/26144312150_b98820965d.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

11:34 pm | kitchen. Classic. Cookies and milk. (There was another cookie but you don’t expect me to, like, save them both to take a picture of, right?)

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1462/26350988821_a5b9e19d96.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:38 am | kitchen. Technically no longer the 12th. But still within 24 hours and back to creating stuff. Because it’s like, therapeutic or something.

On the 12th of each month, I take 12 pictures throughout the day and eventually blog them. Here are my pictures for March 12, 2016.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1626/25670973361_3399257e1e.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=112:18 am | kitchen. Nikki got me into Bullet Journaling. Plans for the day: Smart Girls with ADHD webinar, rescheduling respite, and 12 of 12. But first, sleep.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1694/25135605804_58e02f131a.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:56 am | bathroom. I have lots of moisturizer. (I should use it more.)

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1453/25645090162_f4e64403be.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

10:22 am | kitchen. I got my mom to make me cheesecake-nutella french-toast-sandwiches. Fancy. (Apparently the thing I was referring to that Steve and I got in Ottawa was not that difficult to make at home. What are the odds?)

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1661/25645100802_0b61cc76a5.jpg?resize=500%2C375&ssl=1

10:58 am | Costco. Temptation to change thermostat = so high.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1612/25739999936_5a87e3037d.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:11 pm | Costco. I think the only items I threw in the cart were lattice (waffle) fries and smoked cheese ravioli.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1612/25135616534_645552581b.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

12:22 pm | 7-Eleven. 7 degree March days = slurpees and hoodies. I always want to try the fun Slurpee flavours like Gummie Bear, but if I do I’m sad I didn’t just get Coke. Even though I only really like Coke in Slurpee form.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1688/25766044005_b3406c0d88.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

1:38 pm | Kitchen. Discussing rulers and bullet journals with Nikki and Beth before the Smart Girls with ADHD Bullet Journal webinar!

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1600/25739973706_4336739e3e.jpg?resize=500%2C281&ssl=12:31 pm | Kitchen. And Nikki is rolling on the first ever SGwADHD webinar. The TO-DONE list! And, choice quote, “Inspiration happens.” WORD, Emma.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1706/25465346860_1ab981cb45.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

3:03 pm | kitchen. Post webinar discussing tape with the SGwADHD admins. Except this is duct tape not washi tape.

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1565/25645082992_e8c9ea4594.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:12 pm – Kitchen. Why does the Canada Revenue Agency always time out on me and simultaneously interrupt everything I am doing?

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1653/25139450083_7dc0febd09.jpg?resize=500%2C340&ssl=1

9:13 pm – Kitchen. Taxes = done. It’s only March 12. Whaaaaat.
PS. I <3 SimpleTax

https://i0.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr.com/1697/25645105162_7ca874bdd3.jpg?resize=375%2C500&ssl=1

9:33 pm – Kitchen. Snack time. Is it normal for other families to find it perfectly acceptable to break off half/mix-and-match the giant Costco cookies? Either way, mine does. Plus cheese string and Fruitopia.

See you on April 12th! [Kidding, I’ll post before then. I hope.]
